About the role

In this rewarding role you will be responsible for supporting foster carers and provide direct in-home and community based support services to children and young people. You will actively monitor the quality of care being provided to children and young people placed in family-based placements.

No two days will be the same in this diverse role however your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and implementing the care plan for a successful placement of children and young people;
  • Planning and undertaking activities with children and young people to achieve the identified goals in placement and providing practical support to assist placements under stress;
  • Providing ongoing monitoring of placements with foster carers including the transition of children and young people entering or exiting from placements.

You will be a part of heartfelt practitioners who aim to give children and young people a positive journey through care.

 

About you

You are passionate about the welfare of children and achieving the absolute best outcomes for them.

Excellent interpersonal skills are part of your skillset enabling you to build rapport with people easily. With an empathetic nature you are compassionate toward vulnerable individuals. You are approachable, and a good problem solver who can think quickly on your feet to make sound decisions. 

With effective communication skills, you are capable of liaising comfortably with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You have comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements and can promote a culture of compliance.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

  • Certificate III in Protective Care, Youth or Community Services or equivalent and/or related experience with a willingness to participate in further training;
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing training to adults, and providing a range of supports, including behaviour management and stress management strategies.

We provide support for more than 2,800 children, young people and families each year. Over 800 dedicated foster and kinship carers help us provide a vital safety net for these young people.
